History

The history of Shrub dates back to 18th century, back when barrels of smuggled contraband were hidden on the sea bed to avoid the customs and excise officers.

Often salt water would taint the oak casks so the addition of the sweet, citrus shrub cordials would be used to mask the briny aftertaste.

Using traditional methods and local botanicals, we have set out to create premium quality, small batch runs of authentic Cornish shrub cordial.
